Climate scientists are cordially invited to participate in the call for candidates for the second term of the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change, based at the European Environment Agency (EEA).

The board has a crucial role in shaping EU climate policy by assessing the compatibility of EU policies with international climate goals and advising on possible transition pathways. Recruitment is currently underway for a second four-year term, which will start in March 2026.

It is highly desirable to include experts from Central and Eastern Europe on the Council. Their participation will enable the Council to better consider regional challenges and the specifics of transition pathways in the process of formulating EU climate recommendations.

Formal requirements for candidates:

  • PhD degree or equivalent in a scientific or technical discipline related to climate science,
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in the climate sciences, environment or other disciplines relevant to the implementation of the EU climate objectives,
  • Citizenship of one of the European Union Member States.
