Gen-Q is a doctoral training programme established by the European groupings of territorial cooperation (EGTCs) Eucor - The European Campus. It offers 51 doctoral positions with an international, interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral focus. Each doctoral project lasts 48 months and culminates in the award of a doctoral degree.
PhD research is conducted at Gen-Q partner institutions:
- University of Basel, Switzerland (12 positions).
- Albert Ludwig University, Freiburg, Germany (2 positions).
- Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany (11 positions)
- University of Upper Alsace, France (3 posts).
- University of Strasbourg, France (14 posts)
- University of Amsterdam, Netherlands (6 posts)
- Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland (3 posts).
The scientific focus of the programme centres on four main challenges:
- Overcoming quantum device noise.
- Scaling complexity in so-called qubits and sensors.
- Developing quantum hardware
- Quantum software development and hybrid computing
