On Wednesday, 19 February, the annual Awards of the Minister of Science and Higher Education were presented in Toruń during the Polish Science Gala. Traditionally, the awards were granted in five categories. The award for significant achievements in scientific activity was received, among others, by Prof Przemysław Niedzielski from the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan (AMU).
Polish Science Day, a ceremony Gala was held at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Centre, during which distinguished persons in scientific and academic activities were honoured. This year, the following were granted: 20 lifetime achievement awards, 33 awards for significant achievements in scientific activities, 4 awards for significant achievements in teaching activities, 6 awards for significant achievements in implementation activities, and 2 awards for significant achievements in organisational activities. In total, 150 individuals were awarded.
Prof. Przemysław Niedzielski - conducts research in analytical chemistry on the development of new analytical procedures and prepares applications for the analysis of various samples: food, biological samples, geological samples and archaeological artefacts. In his research work, Prof. Niedzielski focuses on:
- micro trace analysis of various environmental and clinical samples,
- metal and metalloid speciation studies, sample fractionation,
- combined techniques in speciation analysis,
- sedimentary geochemical tracers,
- archaeometry,
- elemental phyto- and rhizoremediation,
research in the polar zones.
