Maciej Behnke, DSc, from the AMU Faculty of Physics and Astronomy, is a co-author of a paper published in Nature, one of the world’s most prestigious scientific journals.

The article, entitled ‘Investigating the analytical robustness of the social and behavioural sciences’, addresses the significant issue of the resilience of research findings in the social and behavioural sciences to the analytical decisions made by researchers. The authors examined the extent to which the method of data analysis can influence the final results and conclusions drawn from the research.

The publication was created as part of an international project in which 457 independent specialists from around the world reanalysed 100 previously published studies. The experts worked with the same data and addressed the same research questions as the authors of the original publications, but selected their own methods of analysis.

"Reanalysing the same data can, in some cases, lead to different results or conclusions, which is of significant importance for the discussion on the reliability and robustness of scientific results," explains DSc Maciej Behnke.

The study’s findings represent an essential contribution to the international debate on the reliability and reproducibility of scientific research.
