The fifth meeting of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) was held at Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, on 24–25 February 2026. The agenda focused on strategic reflection on the quality of scientific research and doctoral education at AMU.
The first day's proceedings, held at Collegium Minus, were opened by AMU Vice-Rector Prof. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk. An overview of the University's activities from the past six months was presented, along with an update to the AMU strategy and discussions regarding preparations for the next edition of the Excellence Initiative-Research University programme. Discussions also focused on statistics concerning doctoral studies, the structure of academic salaries and good practices in the recruitment of doctoral students, with the participation of the Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Doctoral Schools, Prof. Piotr Pawluć. During this part of the meeting, SAB members discussed their universities' experiences in recruiting students for doctoral programs.
On the second day, the proceedings took place at the AMU Faculty of English at Collegium Heliodori Święcicki. The main points on the agenda included an analysis of the Polish science evaluation system, its reliability, and its impact on research quality, presented by Prof. Robert Lew, PhD, the Rector's representative for research quality evaluation. The scientific policy of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, along with good practices related to research ethics codes, has also been discussed.
For the first time, a new SAB member joined the meeting – Prof. Sandrine Lacombe from Université Paris-Saclay, Professor and Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Innovative Radiation Therapies.
The proceedings were concluded with a discussion among SAB members concerning the further development of the University's scientific policy.
