Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, the Université de Strasbourg and the University of Southern Denmark have signed an agreement in Strasbourg to establish a triple master’s degree programme – EPICUR Master’s in European Geopolitics, International Security and Law. As part of the two-year course, students will be educated successively in Poznań, Odense and Strasbourg, and upon completion will receive degrees from each of the three partner universities.
The EPICUR Master’s in European Geopolitics, International Security and Law programme was developed by the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration in collaboration with the University of Southern Denmark and the University of Strasbourg, including Sciences Po Strasbourg. It represents a step towards the most advanced models of education in the European Union.
It signifies not only mobility between universities, but also access to three master’s programs, the diverse teaching methods associated with them, and a variety of career prospects. The conclusion of an agreement at this stage became possible due to an academic partnership within the EPICUR alliance.
The agreement marks the launch of one of Europe’s most ambitious educational pathways, bringing together three degree programmes into a coherent curriculum that leads to three degrees. “It is an investment in graduates ready to work in an international environment: in organisations, public institutions and academia,” says Dr Martyna Kusak, Vice-Dean of the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration, who has coordinated the process on the AMU side from the outset.
The EPICUR Master’s in European Geopolitics, International Security and Law is in line with the EU’s higher education development strategy, in which the integration of study programmes, academic mobility and degrees recognised beyond a single national system are becoming increasingly significant. Creating a European degree (European Label) is a crucial step. It involves closer cooperation between universities to design and deliver programs with a European focus.
The programme is aimed at students interested in European and international law, security, geopolitics and international cooperation. It will be linked to the new English-taught Master’s degree programme in European and International Law, launched by the AMU Faculty of Law and Administration in the 2026/2027 academic year. Applicants wishing to participate in the programme will indicate this pathway at the master’s degree recruitment stage and undergo an extended selection process.
Each partner university nominates five students annually from among those enrolled on master’s programmes linked to the scheme, forming a group of fifteen students who will undertake the programme as part of the European study pathway. Upon graduation and defence of their thesis, graduates of the EPICUR Master’s in European Geopolitics, International Security and Law will receive three master’s degrees: from Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, the University of Southern Denmark and the Université de Strasbourg.
The signing ceremony was held on 26 May 2026 in Strasbourg, attended by representatives of the partner universities. Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan, was represented by:
