The project “Teaching foreign Languages in a Multicultural Environment” (TELME), implemented with the participation of the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, has received European Commission funding of €3,756,000 in the Erasmus Mundus - Joint Master (KA2 - Partnerships for Excellence) programme. As part of the project, a new second-degree course - Teaching and Learning in a Multicultural Environment - will be launched at AMU.

TELME is an international educational initiative aiming to train specialists in language teaching within culturally and linguistically diverse environments. The project is a collaboration between five renowned European universities: Université Rennes 2 (France, project co-ordinator), Åbo Akademi (Finland), Universidad de Burgos (Spain), University of Limerick (Ireland) and Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan.

The new degree programme will be taught in English. It will feature an interdisciplinary curriculum blending elements of linguistics, language didactics and information and communication technology (ICT). A crucial point of the programme will be mandatory academic mobility; students are expected to spend part of their studies at partner universities, gaining international experience and a double degree, which will significantly increase their competitiveness in the labour market.

The Master's degree programme Teaching and Learning in a Multicultural Environment is designed for those seeking to work in a multilingual and multicultural environment - in educational, cultural or counselling institutions. Graduates will be prepared for roles such as foreign language teacher, cultural mediator or intercultural specialist.

At AMU, the TELME project is implemented by a team of researchers from the Institute of Romance Languages and Literatures of the Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures. The coordinators of the project are Prof. Leonor Sagermann Bustinza and Dominika Dziubała-Szrejbrowska. The project team also includes Prof. Mirosław Loba, Prof. Tomasz Klimkowski, Prof. Katarzyna Karpińska-Szaj, Prof. Bernadeta Wojciechowska,  and Prof. Joanna Górecka.

- We believe that the establishment of the Teaching and Learning in a Multicultural Environment major will contribute to the further development of our teaching offer and strengthen the international profile of our Institute, the team members emphasise.
