44th European Symposium on Occultation Projects ‘ESOP XLIV’

Promotional flyer for the 44th European Symposium on Occultation Projects (ESOP), organized by IOTA-ES, inviting amateur and professional astronomers to register by July 31, 2025. Topics include data analysis, collaboration, education, and technology sharing, with excursions to Poznań landmarks, observatories, and meteorite sites.

An international conference on observational astronomy entitled. ‘44th European Symposium on Occultation Projects (ESOP XLIV)' will be held on 23-24 August.

For more than 40 years, the meetings have been connecting professional astronomers with advanced astronomy enthusiasts to share experiences and results from the rare phenomena of star occultations by small solar system bodies. Such phenomena are one of the most accurate methods for studying the dimensions and shapes of asteroids, making it also feasible to discover previously unknown asteroid moons or double stars. The results of such studies have been published, among others, in the journal “Nature”.

The conference is organised jointly by the Institute of the AMU Astronomical Observatory Institute (Head of LOC: Anna Marciniak) and the Polish Astronomy Society (Head of SOC: Wojciech Burzyński).

The conference will be held in Collegium Minus (room XVII).

The AMU Faculty of Physics and Astronomy warmly welcomes.
