Join us for the conference/workshop "Political Novel and Class Distinctions," which will be held at the AMU Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology on 13–14 November 2025.
The workshop will focus on how the political novel recognises, describes and problematises class differences – from economic and social experiences, through political identities and subjectivities, to mechanisms of exclusion and paths of mobility. The focus will be on both classic patterns of class representation and new narrative forms that test the boundaries of the canon and challenge established hierarchies (e.g., labour and precariousness, education and inheritance of capital, class shame and aspirations, care and welfare, transformations after 1989, consequences of economic crises).
The event is organised by Prof. Tomasz Mizerkiewicz's research team as part of The Cartography of the Political Novel in Europe (CAPONEU) grant funded by the Horizon Europe programme.
