Need-based Scholarship

When applying for a need-based scholarship, the student generates an application form in USOSweb, after which the student submits it together with a statement of income and attachments, on the basis of which s/he made the statement, at the Dean’s Office or at the Student Affairs Department of an Institute or Collegium. The application-generating system will be launched at the end of September, and students will be informed about the exact date on the University website and through announcements on notice boards intended for important information.

A need-based scholarship is awarded on the basis of the student’s financial situation. When determining the amount of income entitling a student to apply for a scholarship, the incomes generated by the following persons are taken into account:

  1. student,
  2. student’s spouse, as well as student’s or student’s spouse’s minor dependants, children receiving education until the age of 25, and if the 26th year of age falls in the last year of studies, until the completion of studies, and children with disabilities regardless of age,
  3. parents, legal guardians, student’s de facto guardians and their dependent minor children, children receiving education up to the age of 25, and if the 26 year of age falls in the last year of study, until the completion of studies, and children with disabilities regardless of age.

In connection with the provisions on the protection of personal data, adult family members (including the applying student) are obliged to consent to the processing of their data and the data of minors under their care. The application for a need-based scholarship submitted without the obligatory statements and declarations is not complete and cannot be processed; lack of statements/declarations may result in the application and statement of income being returned to make necessary corrections.  The consent form for personal data processing is available in USOSweb – go to “Applications”

The form of the application depends on its contents (income sources of family members and the type and number of attachments).

  1. an application for a need-based scholarship,
  2. statements of income obtained by family members in 2018,
  3. documents allowing the determination of student’s financial situation (attachments to the statement of income containing official information on the incomes reported in the statement), including the information on the studying sibling.

An incomplete application and an application precluding the determination of financial situation cannot be processed favourably.  Benefits can be awarded (without repayment) only after the correct completion of the application.

Determination of the financial situation is based on the certificates issued by tax authorities concerning the incomes of family members (including students) obtained in 2018, and additional documents confirming the income generated in 2019 (income earned). Depending on the situation and the composition of the family, you can present certificates from schools where your sibling attends, court judgments on child support amounts, decisions on maintenance benefits)

A full-time student receiving a need-based scholarship may receive an increased scholarship on account of accommodation in a student dormitory or a place other than a dormitory.

The criteria for processing of applications, the amount of need-based scholarship and other scholarship-related parameters for the academic year 2019/2020 will be determined by the Rector and the university body of the Student Government Parliament based on the size of the scholarship fund, number of applications and the financial situation of applicants.

All documents that are attached to the application and statement of income should be presented in Polish and, if necessary, translated by a sworn translator registered by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Poland.

Copies of documents may be filed, provided that the originals are presented (for inspection) when submitting the application.

The application-generating system will be launched at the end of September, and students will be informed about the exact date on the University website and through announcements on notice boards intended for important information.
