Schools

Adam Mickiewicz University is divided into 5 schools:

School of Languages and Literatures

The School of Languages and Literatures has been established to provide scientific and educational activity as well as to train academic staff.

Within the framework of the School of Languages and Literatures function:

  • Faculty of English
  • Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology
  • Faculty of Modern Languages and Literatures

The School of Languages and Literatures is run by the Vice-Rector prof. dr hab. Katarzyna Dziubalska-Kołaczyk and its collegial body, The School of Languages and Literatures Council coordinates the educational activities.

School of Exact Sciences

The School of Exact Sciences consists of the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Chemistry with Scientific Council, the discipline of chemical sciences
  • Faculty of Physics with Scientific Council, the discipline of physical sciences and astronomy sciences
  • Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Sciences with Scientific Council, the discipline of mathematics, computer and information sciences

The school of Exact Studies is run by the Vice-rector prof. dr hab. Michał Banaszak.

School of Social Sciences

The School of Social Sciences consists of the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Human Geography and Planning with Scientific Council, the disciplines of social and economic geography and planning
  • Faculty of Political Studies and Journalism with Scientific Council, the disciplines of political science and administration, social communication and media studies, and security studies
  • Faculty of Law and Administration with Scientific Council, the discipline of law
  • Faculty of Psychology and Cognitive Science with Scientific Council, the discipline of psychology
  • Faculty of Sociology with Scientific Council, the discipline of sociology science
  • Faculty of Educational Studies with Scientific Council, the discipline of education

The school of Social Sciences is run by the Vice-Rector prof. dr hab. Zbyszko Melosik

School of Natural Sciences

The School of Natural Sciences has been established to provide scientific and educational activity as well as to train academic staff.

The school of Natural Sciences consists of:

  • Faculty of Biology– biological sciences
  • Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences – Earth and Environmental Sciences

The School’s main goals and objectives:

  • preparing the School’s scientific activity development strategy and supervising the right and effective performance of scientific activity within different academic disciplines;
  • assessing and performing the School’s preliminary material and financial schedule;
  • providing opinions on draft resolutions submitted to a debate of the Senate
  • developing guidelines for the discipline’s Scientific Council concerning the evaluation criteria for periodic assessment of academic teachers;
  • employment policy-making in the School.

The School of Natural Sciences is run by the Vice-Rector prof. dr hab. Przemysław Wojtaszek and its collegial body, The School of Natural Sciences Council coordinates the educational activities .

School of Humanities

The School of Humanities consists of the following faculties:

  • Faculty of Anthropology and Cultural Studies with Scientific Council, the discipline of culture and religious studies
  • Faculty of Archeology with Scientific Council, the discipline of archeology
  • Faculty of Philosophy with Scientific Council, the discipline of philosophy
  • Faculty of History with Scientific Council, the discipline of history
  • Faculty of Art Studies with Scientific Council, the discipline of arts studies
  • Faculty of Theology with Scientific Council, the discipline of theology

The School of Humanities is run by the Vice-Rector prof. UAM dr hab. Rafał Witkowski.
