Graduate competencies
In the field of knowledge, the graduates will demonstrate the knowledge of theoretical concepts of culture and processes taking place in culture, which they apply in an interdisciplinary perspective; they will have an in-depth knowledge of changes taking place in contemporary cultural life, as well as the tools necessary to recognize, analyze and interpret new cultural practices; they will have an advanced knowledge of the peculiarities of the development of various fields of European artistic culture, with a particular emphasis on contemporary art forms. In terms of abilities, the graduates will be able to critically interpret and creatively use theories and research approaches characteristic for cultural studies in untypical professional situations; they will be able to write and edit specialized informational, promotional and critical texts, making use of the current state of knowledge and modern information sources; they will also be able to interpret contemporary artistic products in an independent and specialized way. In terms of competences: the graduates will demonstrate deepened cultural competences in the conditions of intercultural communication, meeting various traditions and ways of life; they will take an active and critical part in negotiating cultural conflicts; they will notice, recognize and analyze problems and conflicts, make diagnoses and formulate recommendations of solutions to these problems within the framework of active cooperation with communities.
Career prospects
Graduates can work in such positions as curators (of visual and performing arts, and interdisciplinary projects), socio-cultural animators, cultural educators, cultural entrepreneurs, cultural publicists and art critics, public administration employees (in the field of cultural policy and organization of cultural activities), as well as in professions related to the media, advertising and the broadly defined sector of creative industries.
The curriculum enables students to acquire social competences necessary for cooperation, including international cooperation, with organizers and creators of culture. It oers skills useful in organizing the work and animation of various groups, carrying out team cultural projects as well as proposing own innovative ideas. Graduates can speak a foreign language at least on the B2+ level.
