The University of Sheffield

  1. SCOPE OF THE STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
    1. The principal intention of the Student Exchange Programme is to facilitate the exchange of undergraduate students, with the understanding that graduate Students may participate when mutually agreed to by the Parties.
    2. Each Student participating in the Student Exchange Programme under the terms of this Agreement shall be enrolled at the Host Institution for no more than one (1) academic year
    3. The Student Exchange Programme is restricted to the Academic Departments listed in Schedule 2
  2. FUNDING
    1. Each Party shall comply with any applicable rules or obligations notified to it relevant to the Student Exchange Programme (which may include, for example, Turing or Erasmus+) whether those rules apply directly to that Party, or if they apply to the other Party. Neither Party shall put the other Party in breach of any such rules or obligations. Each Party shall offer the other reasonable support to ensure compliance with any such rules or obligations which may include, for example, completion of records or provision of necessary information.
  3. NUMBER OF EXCHANGE STUDENTS
    1. The Parties will attempt to maintain a reasonable balance in the number of Students exchanged during the term of this Agreement as mutually agreed by the Parties.
    2. The Parties acknowledge that two (2) Exchange Students enrolled at the Host Institution for a single semester is equivalent to one (1) Exchange Student enrolled for one full academic year.
    3. The number of students to participate in the Student Exchange Programme is set out in Schedule 2.  This number may be adjusted by mutual agreement between the Parties. This number will be based on semester places.
    4. Both Parties will review the Student Exchange Programme annually to ensure that a balance is achieved.
    5. If the numbers of Students become imbalanced, or either Party wishes to send additional students in excess of the agreed number of exchange places, the Host Institution may consider accepting these students as fee-paying visiting students. At Sheffield the fees for visiting students are reviewed annually and details are available at: www.sheffield.ac.uk/studyabroad/overseas/prospective/costs
